Organizational Background
TAPCA—the Training Academy for Personal Caregivers and Assistants (www.tapca.org)—is committed to providing accessible, high-quality training, education and resources for personal care providers and family members who support the elderly and people with disabilities to live independently at home and in the community. Located in San Francisco, TAPCA is a program of the IHSS Consortium.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Assistant will provide support for the development, implementation and day-to-day operations of the training academy. Primary responsibilities are listed below. This list, however, should be viewed as a starting point, as the position will evolve according to the successful candidate’s interest and aptitude and TAPCA’s workflow.
Program Support (75%)
- Assist in the development of training and marketing materials, including curricula, brochures, and web and other technology-based content.
- Provide customer service and technical support to a diverse range of TAPCA market segments as they navigate TAPCA programs and services.
- Help develop materials and resources to assist reporting, verification, and training efficacy.
- Participate in outreach, including presentations, education fairs and acting as a partner liaison.
- Undertake and complete research assignments, as requested.
- Respond to general inquiries about TAPCA programs and services.
- Schedule and coordinate events, including trainings, workshops, and webinars.
- Help develop management methods for programmatic data.
- Manage online resources including database of frequently asked questions, social networking tools and web-based surveys.
Administration (25%)
- Maintain accurate records on the number of participants served and types of trainings offered.
- Compile meeting minutes and help document programmatic activities.
- Help maintain the services and programmatic portion of the TAPCA website.
- Assist program staff with administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience or interest in workforce development, training and education.
- At least two years of college education or AA degree or equivalent.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to give presentations, write reports, and facilitate meetings.
- Experience working with target populations, including people of diverse cultural, education, socio-economic, and linguistic backgrounds, and knowledge of related issues.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and also function as a team member.
- Self-organized, can prioritize competing assignments, and multi-task.
- Strong experience in internet research and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese is preferred.
